Marine Conservation Litter Survey

We have undertaken MCS shoreline litter survey at Budds Beach quarterly for the last 17 years and now have a splendid record of litter densities. At the same time we clear litter from a long stretch of the shoreline from the Brockhampton Stream to the Southmoor Breach.

Last Saturday Volunteers

By tradition Friends of Langstone Harbour Volunteers are out around the harbour on the Last Saturday of each month. Its a regular thing - BUT - we are sometimes frustrated by tides or other inconveniences when we meet a week before or after.

28th March A glorious morning and a good turnout, meant we could tackle a substantial length of the coastal area on the east side of Farlington Marshes.

We had a good turn out for a litter pick at the north end of the Eastern Road and the sun came out! Thanks to everyone's efforts it now means that there is 33 Kg less litter along that stretch of the harbour.

May 

Later in May, Friends of Langstone Harbour were involved with erecting posts along part of the Billy Trail section of the Langstone Loop walk and later the same month,10 Friends of Langstone Harbour cleared legacy litter, revealed by the recent flailing of undergrowth, around the three car parks at Farlington marshes.

21 February FLH along with Portsea Men's Shed members made minor repairs to interpretation board at Harts Farm Way.

June, saw us along Ferry Road, Eastney. Our haul included some fly-tipped items which were too large to put into Colas bags, including a child's slide, a car seat and several boat mattresses.
